VIBRANT: A Brainstorming Agent for Computer Supported Creative Problem Solving

چکیده
This paper describes key issues underlying the design of a tutoring system that brainstorms with students in order to support qualitative problem solving. Cognitively oriented and socially oriented support are enabled by two technologies, namely heuristic-based feedback generation and community-datadriven social recommendation. Formal representations and corresponding automated reasoning procedures for these technologies are introduced.

Agent-based dynamic support for learning from collaborative brainstorming in scientific inquiry
This paper seeks to contribute new insight to the process of learning during idea generation (i.e., brainstorming) by proposing and evaluating two alternative operationalizations for learning, which we refer to as connection-based learning and multi-perspective learning, during a carefully designed idea-generation task in the earthsciences domain. Specifically, this paper presents two controlle...

متن کاملThe Idea Storming Cube: Evaluating the Effects of Using Game and Computer Agent to Support Divergent Thinking
The objective of this article is to evaluate the effectiveness of a collaborative and online brainstorming game, Idea Storming Cube (ISC), which provides users with a competitive game-based environment and a peer-like intelligent agent. The program seeks to promote students’ divergent thinking to aid in the process of problem solving. The participants consisted of 72 11 grade high school studen...
متن کاملCollocation Method using Compactly Supported Radial Basis Function for Solving Volterra's Population Model
In this paper, indirect collocation approach based on compactly supported radial basis function (CSRBF) is applied for solving Volterra's population model. The method reduces the solution of this problem to the solution of a system of algebraic equations. Volterra's model is a non-linear integro-differential equation where the integral term represents the effect of toxin. To solve the pr...
متن کاملQuality, Conformity, and Conflict: Questioning the Assumptions of Osbornâ•Žs Brainstorming Technique
Divergent thinking tasks are a popular basis for research on group creative problem solving, or brainstorming. The brainstorming literature has been dominated by research that investigates group performance by measuring the total number of generated ideas using the original rules put forth by Osborn (1953). This review of empirical literature on brainstorming suggests that Osborn was right abou...
